Recently, as part of the British Embassy Zagreb internal training and development, I facilitated and moderated a series of productive sessions based on Diplomatic Excellence.
Spending a day at the British Embassy Zagreb, all staff members who work at the embassy attended these productive brainstorming workshops. The sessions took place to assess and evaluate what Diplomatic Excellence means to the embassy, here in Croatia and the positive work everyone does in their respective departments.
Diplomatic Excellence is an initiative which focuses on strengthening the Foreign and Commonwealth Office as a thriving institution at the heart of the British government for the long term. In terms of the British Embassy Zagreb, Diplomatic Excellence ultimately aims to strengthen how staff members do their day to day tasks, identify areas of achievement and to design a way forward to continue developing together. Essentially, it looks at what the embassy is doing exceptionally well, areas to improve and how others can benefit from the work everyone does.
The sessions included lots of sharing of ideas, brainstorming and open discussion. An enjoyable day for all which produced a fair amount of positive issues to take forward in the Diplomatic Excellence strategy.
