Crowdfunding addicts, startups and investors from Croatia and Europe, gathered together on 17 – 18th September for the Zagreb Crowdfunding Convention at the Trešnjevka Cultural Centre. An inspiring event, which I was delighted to host on behalf of The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Croatia and social enterprise BRODOTO.

This unique event was truly dedicated to all things Crowdfunding. Essentially, everything you need to know with valuable insights, practical advice and discussion wrapped up with lots of networking.

The Zagreb event attracted some of the most prominent international names in crowdfunding circles. The event featured vice-president of the Indiegogo platform, Liz Wald and Indiegogo director for Europe, Anastasia Emmanuel. Anastasia and Liz shared lots of amazing practical advice for startups at various stages of their campaign and the strategic process of crowdfunding success.

Representatives of two other European crowdfunding platforms also shared knowledge including Maria G. Perulero from Goteo.org and Roberto Esposito from DeRev. There were many other names who spoke about their own experience with campaigns from Croatia making this a worthwhile event to attend.

Over the two productive days, there was a clear exchange of knowledge and shared experience to support crowdfunding campaigns during the preparation stage as well as the implementation process. The convention also looked at the further development of crowdfunding in Croatia. Equally, raw examples of successful local and international crowdfunding campaigns will be presented.

The convention also celebrated the final stage of the Crowdfunding Academy held in the spring 2015. From more than hundred interesting projects that applied, a hand-picked 13 teams were selected to attend the Crowdfunding Academy due to their outstanding quality, innovation and high level of motivation. A selection of pre-launch campaigns were shared on stage revealing to the audience exactly what they’ve been working on over the summer.

If you would like your event or conference to be presented with a little more British energy and dynamics, take a look at my previous hosting event videos and simply get in touch – I’d love to help.

As someone who helps companies understand the power of social customer service I've often highlighted how brilliantly Tesco stand out from the crowd and positively lead the way. This summer I experienced a rather peculiar incident with a box of Tesco Cherry Bakewells. It was time to see for myself and put the retailer to the test. Before we begin with this social customer service tale, yes - it's true. When it comes to British cakes, I'm a sucker for a

The power of suggestion is a hot skill to have! Just imagine. You need to urgently get hold of a colleague, client or partner for something that simply can’t wait yet you can’t help feeling you’re about to rudely interrupt something important. Something that shakes up their schedule. Even worse, something that turns you into an annoying distraction. So when you ask if it’s OK to talk what phrase do you tend to use? Something along the lines of “Is this

A few weeks ago (11-12 June) I returned to Split on Croatia's glorious Adriatic coast. This time to host the largest startup event in South-East Europe - Shift Conference. One of Croatia's most well-anticipated tech events was back. Ready with an even stronger line-up of speakers and content. Equally, I was back on stage for the second year as the Shift startup conference host – excited (as always) to be a part of. For the second year, the entire event unfolds

Once again, I'm delighted to provide my writing services for the five-star luxury Esplanade Zagreb Hotel magazine entitled the Esplanade View. For a number of years, I've worked alongside the Esplanade Zagreb Hotel sharing my copywriting, translation and copy editing skills covering a variety of concepts including press releases, the hotel website, menus and most recently the 80-page Esplanade View magazine. Created and published twice a year in spring and autumn, this bilingual English and Croatian publication representing Zagreb’s most luxurious hotel,

During the recent Shift Tech Conference in Split, Croatia, I delivered a straight-talking startup pitch training session for a group of budding startups and entrepreneurs to prepare them with their pitches on stage. Taken from my pitch and presentation training series, I presented Pitch Sauce, a powerful practical session full of ready-to-use tips to increase your chances of a success. Pitch Sauce focuses on aspects you can easily fine-tune - without a fuss. It also looks at the not-so-obvious elements to

Adding to my growing portfolio of voiceover projects, this month I recorded a crowdfunding campaign voiceover for Baggizmo – the gadget bag with style. We've all been there. We're on-the-go with our tablet, smartphone, laptop and wires galore. However, finding the perfect bag that keeps everything in one place, pockets-free and doesn't seem too chunky – is always a challenge. Baggizmo, on the other hand, aims to solve this problem. Currently featured as a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, Baggizmo delightfully merges contemporary

I'm sure you’ve heard this before. Concise writing and keeping to-the-point is the way forward - the key to becoming a stronger writer. You and your audience want the same thing; you want to write less, and they want to read less. We simply don't have the time. Many of us will scan a few sentences then runaway never to be seen again! These concise writing tips can help prevent this. Fewer words, saying more. When writing your emails, keep your

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of hosting the Startup Pitch Challenge at the PODIM Conference 2015 in Maribor. Notably one of the largest and leading conferences of innovation, entrepreneurship and modern business practices in the Alpe-Adria region. Celebrating its 35th year, the event brought together more than 600 startups and established entrepreneurs from more than 10 countries. The session kicked off with an informative Q&A session, delving deeper into the mindset of the investors and entrepreneurs.

Time for another voiceover project with an environmental touch. Meet ZAZA Planet - a fantastic new startup from Prague creating ZAZA Bottles - the first and only refillable customized bottles on the market made from a plant-based material promoting a fusion of fashion & sustainability. I'm delighted to have worked alongside the ZAZA team providing a snappy British voiceover for their current crowdfunding Kickstarter campaign that recently launched on 20 May. They're snazzy. They're stylish and you can even use
